I made a recent discovery of a Japanese blade which had been hidden in a closet for several decades. This is my first blade and initial opinions are that it is an authentic piece. Thoughts? |

Hello everyone! This is my first post, as I am new here. I was hoping you all could help me with something, my great grand father brought back a katana from WW2 and my dad (in his youth) misused it and would now like for me to restore it, and when I removed the handle assembly I expected to see a stamp of some sort indicating it was machine made; but rather found two sets of Kanji (one on each side of the tang) and despite having tried to figure out how to read it all I gained was a headache. Would those of you with experience with this mind translating it for me? |

Hi, Found a sword in fairly poor state minus a few bits and pieces in a pawn shop. I have a strong suspicion that it is Japanese, it has Japanese text on the tang. Sad that it wasn't in a complete state and has some damage to the tip. Seems amazingly sharp where the blade is free of corrosion. I would like to restore it, it gives me the impression that it was made with great care. Any comments would be gladly accepted. Please see the attached image. James |

Hi everyone, new to collecting, this is my first, possibly my only as I don't think I can afford investment in another. Just picked up an O-Wakisashi(? 21.1", is this O-wakisashi or simply wakisashi) signed by Tada Hitachi no Kami Muneshige. I can find precious little about this swordsmith, what I did find did not include Tada and I even wonder if it's the Singnature with and without "tada" is same smith. The sword is authentic with nbthk green papers, (especially precious, issued 1971) |

Hi everyone, |

Hello guys, I am the new guy here, this is my first post. So please bear with me :) Question 1: Most sword made by Bicchunokami Tachibana Yasuhiro comes with a chrysanthemum crest but also some don't. Why is that? Question 2: What is the difference between a Bizen sword sign "Bishu Osafune Norimitsu" vs just "Norimitsu" ? Is the latter a kazuuchi sword or its out right fake? |

Hi folks! |
|||
Happy new year everyone, may your realistic wishes come true! I am wondering if anyone can help me identify by which sword smith this wakizashi was made. I have the following info: Kanewaka of Kaga Province and is dated 1656. Is Kanewaka the sword smith? There are multiple entries for kanewaka in the data base, but I am thinking this one: KAN2899. Is that correct? If so than this is the 2nd gen kanewaka (http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/kanewaka.htm)...? "Kashu ju Kanewaka" 賀州住兼若 What does the kanji on the other side translate to...? Thanks for your help, Chris |
