Hi Everyone, I'm a new member, Jairo Araujo from Brazil. I'm posting photos of my katana. After try understand the signature, please if someone can help me i will be glad. Lets start with signature, first kanji of signature is 國 (KUNI) but i cant identify the second. In the other side, have a mensage, I think it was not made in manufacturing process, i think it was made after, says "横山大膳X康子X" ("Yokoyama daizen xxx Yasushiko XXX") Suemitsu Katana Kaji says frequently Japanese soldiers wrote their names or messages in military swords, i dont know if is correct or not. |

Greetings, I'm a new member. I am new to the study of Nihonto, but acquired this blade and am enjoying learning about it. It is about half an inch over the minimum length for a katana and relatively heavy. I found it interesting that the habaki is of 2-piece construction, gilded, and contains a mon. Fits well, seemingly original(?) |

can anyone help me figure out what this inscription means? i'm trying to decide if this sword is worthy of a restoration or not. it was handed down to me from my father. his great uncle was a naval surgeon and stationed at Yokohama during the Spanish American war. I would love to know the sword maker and when it was made etc. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated. |

I made a recent discovery of a Japanese blade which had been hidden in a closet for several decades. This is my first blade and initial opinions are that it is an authentic piece. Thoughts? |

Hello everyone! This is my first post, as I am new here. I was hoping you all could help me with something, my great grand father brought back a katana from WW2 and my dad (in his youth) misused it and would now like for me to restore it, and when I removed the handle assembly I expected to see a stamp of some sort indicating it was machine made; but rather found two sets of Kanji (one on each side of the tang) and despite having tried to figure out how to read it all I gained was a headache. Would those of you with experience with this mind translating it for me? |

Hi i am here just getting some opinions on a sword that i own, don't know to much about it, but do know that it's signed by inoue izume no kami kunisada. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated |

Hi, Found a sword in fairly poor state minus a few bits and pieces in a pawn shop. I have a strong suspicion that it is Japanese, it has Japanese text on the tang. Sad that it wasn't in a complete state and has some damage to the tip. Seems amazingly sharp where the blade is free of corrosion. I would like to restore it, it gives me the impression that it was made with great care. Any comments would be gladly accepted. Please see the attached image. James |

Hi everyone, new to collecting, this is my first, possibly my only as I don't think I can afford investment in another. Just picked up an O-Wakisashi(? 21.1", is this O-wakisashi or simply wakisashi) signed by Tada Hitachi no Kami Muneshige. I can find precious little about this swordsmith, what I did find did not include Tada and I even wonder if it's the Singnature with and without "tada" is same smith. The sword is authentic with nbthk green papers, (especially precious, issued 1971) |
