I ran across this at a yard sale and have no clue what it is. Or if its old fake or real. Handle and scabbard appear to be bone it isnt plastic i checked it with a hot needle. Any help would be appreciated. I got it with a couple of other items |

Very likely a post-war souvenir, probably sold to occupation troops.
You're right that it's likely bone - some folks mistakenly think it's ivory.
Might be a good letter opener (or "paper knife" is what the Japanese call it).

Makes sense at the same yard sale i bought a WWII Pal M36 combat knife. The lady was probably in her 80s. am sure her husband might have been ex-military got 3 things for 20 bucks
