I bought a sword from Japan with characteristics presented below:
Very antique sword of more than 590 years old, which was smithed by Sue-Tegai (末手掻), one of major swordsmith school, as attested by NBTHK "Kantei-sho" certificate.
Mei signature: Mumei, i.e. no signature, however, NBTHK attests in its "Kantei-sho" certificate that this sword was smithed by Sue-Tagai (末手掻).
● Jidai date: around Oei era (応永, 1394-1427)
● NBTHK "Kantei-sho" certificate: Status is Hozon (保存, i.e. to be preserved). Dated June 1, 2016, and numbered 3012349.

I've attached a few images of another of my wakazashi. I admit I bought this unseen, on a whim, which for a beginner is probably not a good idea. I know the advice is to read and read before making a purchase but the internet makes it so easy to just click and buy.
Anyway, I attach a picture of the tang and its signature - whether that be genuine or fake, I believe it reads - Kawachi No Kami Fujiwara Kunisuke.
It came with a nice iron Tsuba, also images attached.

I have only recently become interested in the art and history of Japanese swords and have a few wakazashi which I am trying to verify as to era and swordsmith.
I am aware that there are fakes around (Chinese/other?) and also original swords that have fake signatures, just to confuse matters.
I have attached a PDF with three slides/images - finding it very hard to photograph the blade.

I have a WWII Katana hat was brought home from the battle at Iwo-Jima. It us dated May 20 1945 but is signed Tadamichi. The only Tadamichi I have discovered dates around 1680. I would love to find out everything I can about this Katana.

Hello, My name is Josh and I am a new member, and have little knowledge in this area. I own a sword that has been in family for 70 years, from WW II. A research application has been opened concerning this swords original owner, but I would like to confirm the information I am being told. Originally thought to be made in 1800's, writing on the tang now shows it is from Fujiwara Sakon Shougen Kagekuni. The date shows to be 1259 or 1324, being either 1st Kagekuni or 3rd Kagekuni. Is there any way to tell the difference? I also have the canteen of the last owner with writing on it.

Hi,
Can you help with info regarding this tanto?
Is it real? From 17th century? Is it made by SHIGEMITSU?
Can you estimate a price for it?
I would like to buy it from a private seller and I tried to contact a Japanese Association from my country but nobody knows details about swords.
Thanks for your help!

Hi, just wondering if anyone has information about a Showa smith Yoshikuni who signed Esaka Yoshikuni? I think he is YOS1522. Mostly trying to find out if his blades were traditionally made or if he used wartime shortcuts, or both? Thanks.

PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR A COLLECTION OF THE PICS I HAVE TAKEN, THE SWORD HAS THE ABILITY TO CHANGE WHAT IT IS DEPICTING ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF THE BLADE . IT IS AN UNUSUAL SIZE AS THE HANDLE IS ALMOST 15INCHES LONG THE TOTAL LENGTH OF THIS SWORD OF MAGIC IS 59.75CM MAKING IT JUST SHORT OF BEING CLASSIFIED AS A KATANA .THIS IS NO WET DREAM LADIES AND GENTLEMEN THIS IS THE SWORD OF POWER AND IT IS A LIVING REALITY. IT HAS MANY SPIRITS THAT HOWL WITHIN THIS SWORD AND I HAVE BEEN POSSESSED BY THE WISDOM IT SHARES WITH THE ONE THAT BEHOLDS IT.

I am looking forward to participating on this forum, I am a long time Imperial German Spiked helmet collector, and now dabbling in Japanese swords. I have a few WWII vintage swords, but just picked up these two swords which I guess I would classify as family swords.
First is the Wakizashi, it ahs a signed blade which hoping somebody can help me out with translation?
I will post the other sword in a separate post to not confuse them.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
James

Just listed these 2 excellent books on eBay:
Japanese sword book: "One Hundred Masterpieces from the Collection of Dr. Walter A. Compton".
Published by Christie's auction house in 1992.
A very large book - almost 15" X 11".
Large, beautiful pictures, with English text explanations, and some basic info in Japanese. See photos.
Many of the kodogu photos are in color.
I have been a Nihonto collector since 1982, but I am no longer active, and it's time to down-size some things before I retire.
Sold as-is (but the condition is Excellent).
