So I found this short sword when I was cleaning out my Grandfathers house. I would love if someone could help me identity what I have here. It looks a few hundred years old. It’s not in the greatest shape. I am sorry If I am not using the correct terminology. My expertise is with firearms. Thanks for looking. |

First time user. I picked this sword up at the Tennessee Military Collectors show. I think the first character is "I" or "Ido" and the 3rd Character is "Sada". Can't figure out characters 2 and 4. Any help would be appreciated. Paul |

Hi all, Thank you for accepting me into this community. I recently acquired a nihonto style blade and I'm trying to find some info on it. It is made from Damascus so I'm expecting it be a modern blade. Picked it up at a garage sale for $25 and want to sharpen it up to use for cutting practice, however I want to make sure my assumptions are correct before i break out the stones. Thank you for any assistance you can provide Nathan |

I remember my former marine grandpa allowing me to look at this when I was s kid, he never talked about how or who it came from, only that he carried it off from Iwo Jima. He passed recently at 93 and surprisingly left it to me. Any info at all would greatly help, I have no idea we’re to start. |

I recently came across a Showa period katana. I am having difficulty deciphering the maker's signature. I attended an antique arms show and showed it to a dealer who said he was unable identify the maker with certainty. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Help Please! I have recently purchased a WW2 Japanese Officers sword on which the tang is marked with a makers name. The blade is in superb condition. has a gorgeous hamon and appears to be of extremely fine quality. However, as I cannot read Japanese I have been unable to identify the maker. If anyone can assist I would be extremely grateful. See attached photo. Many thanks Greg |

This is a wonderful Kanayama tsuba which has been changing hands between well-known Western collectors for several decades. See Jim Gilbert collection as another reference. This is a text-book example, small in diameter with very thick rim, dished plate and lumpy tekkotsu. The colour is blackish and the surface looks wet and lustrous, typical for Kanayama and Owari sukashi tsuba. Period: Momoyama Height: 6.7cm |

I am looking for assistance in identifying and providing a bit of history for a Japanese Army Officer's sword that was captured on May 29, 1945 in the Philippines during WWII. We believe the Makers Mark identifies the Maker as Yoshichika Minamoto, but we cant identify the rest of the characters on the tang. The attached photos show the only characters found on either side of the tang. I haven't been able to located a temper line on the blade either. Thank you for your assistance. Warren |
