Need You For Sale

Dear friends. Before I'm so sorry because I don't know much about Japanese Sword. I have a Japannese sword. Or Katana, maybe. I can't identity this. I try to looking for at Japanese Sword Catalog and other, but I can't find that. This sword found by my grandfather (R.Wiryo Subroto) when he was young.
It's the little story about my Japanese sword.

The value of WM Hawley books and pamphlets?

Hello all.

Just joined. I can NOT read nihon-go. I am thinking about purchasing W.M. Hawley's swordsmiths books and sword monographs. Do you think these are a good purchase for an english speaker who wants to identify swords and swordsmiths?

If not what would you recommend?

Weekend pickup

Gang,
Was doing some Highbanking for gold in Western Carolina and took a break from the shovel to hit the local auction. The sword has a company grade tassel, wavy hamon and is pretty beefy from the others I have handled. Any help with the kanji would be helpful!

Help with identifing Japanese WWll sword

I am desperatly seeking help. I have been researching this sword for few months now with no luck. I have had some responses from other people but of course they are each different. So I am more confused now than when I first started. I even tried to learn some Japanese to try and figure out the signiture...and there are only 2...LOL.

Anyway, I am here hoping that someone out there can help me with this sword wether it is fake or real, and if real than what is it?

Macarthur Tanto

Gents,
Some pictures of the inside of this snapped tanto showing the two part construction. I'm guessing it was snapped during the occupation in accordance with the weapons disposal order. It looks like it was a very beautiful piece back in the day, maybe the G.I. could not let it go to the smelter even in two pieces.

Bob
