Item Type:
wakizashi
Item Type:
Swords - wakizashi
Description:
The blade is signed "Yamashiro koku nishijin ju-nin Umetada Myouju, Keicho10 nen 8 gatsu hi", owner's name "Maeda Tokuzenin". Edo period Ca.1605 made. The blade was badly rusted as i received it. The polishing was one of the hardest jobs i have ever done... As all the details are visible now, i just can say that it is a great piece of workmanship and every hour i spend on it was well invested. |

Item Type:
tsuba
Item Type:
Fittings - tsuba
Description:
Shape is Mokko gata. Traditional motif of Shishi dog playing with a ball and the butterfly is skillfully applied. The rope runs through mimi and goes to the other side. There is a plug made of shakudo on the inner side of kozuka hitsu-ana. Nakago-ana has been widened to accomodate a larger blade. Another alteration has been made presumably at the same time: lion's tail has been cut and the end of the rope beside the ball is flattened. It seems like this has been done to fit a bigger seppa. Width: 79mm |

This topic is for those who would like to commence/continue their Kendo or Iaido training in Dublin. It is also for people who are interested in Samurai sword martial arts but aren't sure which one would suit them better. There are 2 clubs in Dublin which I would recommend. |
