Workmanship and style

Shape and construction

The graceful and fully intact sugata of this sword is a very important point of appreciation. The blade is in koshi-zori.

Horimono

Double hi on both sides. The hi are polished away in a few spots.

Hamon

Highly active gunome midare. Ko-nie in nioi with a soft nioi-guchi. Hataraki of ashi, yo and sunagashi are plentiful. Togari can be seen in some areas. Hamon is yakiotoshi, beginning about 1 cm above the ha-machi.

Boshi

Notare-komi ending in ko-maru. Nice nie activity and streaked with vibrant lines of ko-nie on one side.

Jitetsu and hada

Ko-mokume with tobiyaki. The blade has some kitae-ware due to many polishes.

Nakago

The length is 19.5 cm. Nakago is ubu with 2 mekugi-ana. Shape is standard with sori and iryayama-gata.
