Hi all, I'm very new to all this and apologize first up if I make some basic mistakes. I have recently received my grandfather's (what I presume to be) WW2 Japanese sword that he obtained whilst serving with the British Navy. From some of my basic research I think it is a late war Gunto mount. (Once again apologies if this is way off the mark!) I am looking for info in regard to the sword as I was unable to ask my Pop before he passed as I didn't even know he had the sword. Any information is much appreciated! I have attached some photos. |

I have made a purchase of a roughly finished blade from a Chicago hobbyist and will need some contact information. I intend to make this into a useable sword and not a display piece. Any suggestions? |

Hello all, My names Matt, I am new to the forum and I was hoping for some help with my wakizashi. I have been getting into Japanese History, obviously this has alot to do with the samurai's of japan culture etc. I am told it is Edo period but that is all I know, it isn't sharp and has said to be ivory around the mekugi pin location and bull horn in the shirasaya. please have a look and let me know what you think. http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/maddsh22/20160101_124525.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/maddsh22/20160101_124546.jpg |

I own two Wakizashi by Swordsmith Kendo Kanetsune and am seeking to purchase a Katana made & signed by the same smith. If anyone can help, please send a reply. |

I recently acquired a sword that has WW2 surrender paperwork stating that the swordsmith is "Mitsutada Osafune." I included a picture of the surrender paperwork as well as pictures of the mei. There are quite a few kanji on the tachi side that I can hardly read. I also would like some of you who are much more knowledgeable than I about the authenticity of the mei. I don't have the history of the sword yet, but am very intrigued if this is a true Mitsutada. I am considering sending the sword to the NBTHK for shinsa bu am wanting to decide if it would be worth it. |
