Hello everyone, I normally do not buy a gunto, however, this one looked in very good shape for a good price. Thanks again for any help provided...!

It's not a signature, it's a date: SHOuWA 19 NEN (1944).
Is there a signature on the other side?
Also, a couple of "suspicious" things:
- The wavy shape of the edge of the nakago.
- The lack of rust (a few gunto are actually made of stainless steel, however).
- If there is no signature on the other side... I don't recall ever seeing a blade that is dated but not signed (the opposite is common, of course).
Beware of Chinese fakes...
