Biography and lineage
Motohira (b. 1744) is an elder son of Oku Motonao, and is called Kyōzaemon. He had two brothers, Mototake and Motoyasu. Received Yamato no Kami title in 1789. Passed away 15 July 1826 in the age of 83 [1].
Workmanship and style [1]
His works have a wide body, and the ji is a refined itame. Hamon is sugu ara-nie tsuki or gonome midare, and these are also an exuberant ara-nie tsuki. Once in a great while, one with a horimono is seen.
The five kanji "SATSUYŌ SHI MOTOHIRA" were made in his youth before he received the title of Yamato no Kami, and are on his works from during Anei and Tenmei. Also, the mei kanji are made large and exactly only on his works from his youth.
His work style was also constant in his twilight years, and is gunome midare, but those with this mei of his youth are the most plentiful, and some extremely superior ones are seen among these.
