Hi there. You mentioned in this thread that you found a source for the english translation of fujushiros jiten from a fellow member. Please would you inform me too as i have both volumes but without translation....?

Fujishiro

Hi Eddie,

I purchased electronic versions of Fujishiro translation directly from the author (Harry Watson). I heard he's not selling it anymore due to the danger of unauthorised reproduction.

Stan

Hi Eddie,

You can sometimes find it on eBay (i.e. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FUJISHIRO-2-books-Nihon-Koto-Jiten-and-Shinto-Ji...) or specialised Nihonto sites. But it's not cheap...

It depends how you intend to use this book. If you are mostly interested in oshigata (tang rubbings), you don't need full translation. Use freely available information to find volume and page for any smith in the books:

  1. Index of Japanese Sword Literature - filter by smith's name and look for references to Fujishiro.

  2. Swordsmith Index - use any criteria to find the smith you are looking for. If this smith is mentioned in the book, you'll find the reference in 'Fujishiro' section. I.e. look at Yoshimitsu. The reference is K165 (Koto Volume, page 165).

Stan
