Lucked on to this stringer of caps, I do not see any signatures on these. How often did they change out the fittings in the old days? Were these gold covered when produced or just highlighted in gold? Any comments would be welcome. Thanks,

I like your find. As for ' changing out ' I went to a seminar a few years ago in Leeds England , It was said then that a full set of 13 different koshorie had been found for a single sword meaning that due to the Japanese calender of the day would have been changed once a month but I'm sure not all samurai would have been so wealthy to do this, a bit like modern western culture some change their cars every year but like me holds onto mine until the wheels drop off.
