Yamashiro no kami Fujiwara Kunitsugu ?

Hi,
I am the owner of an O-wakisachi (56.6 cm). In my illiterate ways I translate the mei as Yamashiro noKami Fujiwara Kunitsugu and I believe to read the date as: an auspicious day, ninth month.. and I am stumped is it eleventh year Kanei? I can not find any visual to confirm or not.

Hi Michel, If your reading is

Hi Michel,

If your reading is correct, it may be Nidai Kunitsugu. If you post some pictures of your sword I'll try to compare it with existing examples (if I find any).

Sandai Kunitsugu

Hi Michel,

The date actually reads:

延宝六年九月十...
enpo 6 nen 9 gatsu 10...

(Enpo, 6 = 1678)

I compared the signature with examples in Shinto Taikan [1] and they somewhat differ, but if the signature proven to be genuine, it's most likely Sandai Kunitsugu.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Stan

Thank you very much. I do not have much to help me to translate/read the inscriptions, and every ideogram is matched against a glossary of words.
Totally different is it difficult to find references (oshigatas is the noun I believe) for a signature which reads : Yamashiro kuni ju Nobukuni. It is a 52 cm wakisachi in decent old polish, hamon which I find attractive. sword very well balanced in hand (I did fencing in my younger years).
