Shape is Mokko gata. Traditional motif of Shishi dog playing with a ball and the butterfly is skillfully applied. The rope runs through mimi and goes to the other side.

There is a plug made of shakudo on the inner side of kozuka hitsu-ana. Nakago-ana has been widened to accomodate a larger blade. Another alteration has been made presumably at the same time: lion's tail has been cut and the end of the rope beside the ball is flattened. It seems like this has been done to fit a bigger seppa.
