wakizashi i.d.

Hello everybody,
this is my first post here as I am new to Japaneese swords.
I am asking help in identifying the make name and possibly age of this wakizashi I just purchased.
Blade is 605mm long, and the tang has a complex signature as shown in the photo.
The habaky has a nice decoration and is in 3 pieces, both the habaki and the spacers are made of copper and have a yellow metallization (not paint).
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards
Gianluca

Nobuyoshi

Hi Gianluca,

The signature reads:

平安城住藤原信吉
heianjō ju fujiwara nobuyoshi

which means "Nobuyoshi of (honorary) Fujiwara clan, resident of Heianjo (Yamashiro province)"

It may be this Nobuyoshi.

I'm away from my library at the moment and can't provide any more information. I'll look into it on Sunday.

Nobuyoshi NOB590

Hi Gianluca,

I looked carefully through the books and Nobuyoshi NOB590 mentioned above seems to the only Nobuyoshi who referred to Heianjō in his signatures. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any examples of his works to compare the signature with. Other potential candidates (NOB591, NOB592) are better known and have different signature styles.

Regards,
Stan
