Biography and lineage

He is the third son of Shodai Nobuyoshi [1] (or younger brother [2]) and is considered the best of Takai family. Moved to Osaka from Kyoto in his late life. He became a lay priest and was called Tomonobu 倫信.

Workmanship and style

Engraved Kiku Mon. His early Kiku Mon was cut on the nakago and the later ones, after 1673, were engraved. The Ichi character was also used with the Kiku mon (positioned under the mon) after 1688 [3]. He used the character RAI 来 in his later works of Genroku era [unconfirmed]. O-Wazamono.

Mokume, masame, nashiji, chu-suguba, toran-midare, deep nioi. Suguba resembles works of Shinkai.
