Biography and lineageHe was born in 1921 (大正10年1月24日) in Ishikawa prefecture, died in 1998 (平成10年12月12日). His family name is Sumitani 隅谷, he used Ryōsanshi and Yoichirō as surname. Student of Sakurai Masayuki from Shōwa 16, 1941 onwards. In Shōwa 42 he was appointed as Mukansa. In Shōwa 56, 1971 he became the 3rd Living National Treasure.
