Bizen Osafune Sukesada (Azuchi-Momoyama): Among the swordsmiths of the late Bizen school, many bore the name Sukesada. During the Tensho era Sukesada swords represent a pinnacle of quality . For this reason, they are significantly referred to in Japan as "Tensho-Sukesada."
The sword presented here displays, among other qualities, a hamon characteristic of the Bizen tradition and a particularly impressive distribution of nie.
NTHK Yushu: During NTHK shinsa, "Kantaisho" papers are issued monthly for authentic art swords, while a "Yushu" paper is awarded only once a year for particularly exquisite swords.
