Description:

A group of excellent smiths who worked from the early to the mid-Kamakura period in Yamashiro province. Awataguchi school was founded by Kuniie in Awataguchi district of Kyoto near Seiren-In temple [1].

He had six sons: Kunitomo, Hisakuni, Kuniyasu, Kunikiyo, Arikuni, and Kunitsuna (from elder to younger, the first three smiths are the members of Gotoba In Goban Kaji) [2].
