Please help - new member needs to identify maker

Hi - my name is Karl

I have purchased this sword some time ago and it is the only one I do not know either the construction period nor the maker. I have asked the Japanese seller to give me some information but, all he could tell me was that the words probably read 'Syu Kaifu Jyu Mune' and that this sword was probably made in the Tokushima prefecture. I however could not match this with the database available. It would help to know that I purchase it in its shirasaya.

New member needs help with sword

Hello, My name is Josh and I am a new member, and have little knowledge in this area. I own a sword that has been in family for 70 years, from WW II. A research application has been opened concerning this swords original owner, but I would like to confirm the information I am being told. Originally thought to be made in 1800's, writing on the tang now shows it is from Fujiwara Sakon Shougen Kagekuni. The date shows to be 1259 or 1324, being either 1st Kagekuni or 3rd Kagekuni. Is there any way to tell the difference? I also have the canteen of the last owner with writing on it.

Books FS: "Japanese Swordsmiths Revised" by Hawley; also "MEI TOu SHUu BI" by NBTHK in 1948

Just listed these 2 excellent books on eBay:

Japanese sword book: "One Hundred Masterpieces from the Collection of Dr. Walter A. Compton".
Published by Christie's auction house in 1992.
A very large book - almost 15" X 11".
Large, beautiful pictures, with English text explanations, and some basic info in Japanese. See photos.
Many of the kodogu photos are in color.
I have been a Nihonto collector since 1982, but I am no longer active, and it's time to down-size some things before I retire.
Sold as-is (but the condition is Excellent).

two papered swords for sale

The price has recently been reduced on a pair of swords I have for sale. Also, the two swords are now available separately.
All the details are here:
http://yakiba.com/Daisho_Tango_no_Kami_Kanemichi.htm
Note: Ed Marshall does a great job of photographing blades. It is perhaps "too good", because his images show EVERY TINY DEFECT. His pictures show little scratches that I didn't even know about.

I have decided to sell my Tanba No Kami Yoshimichi Wakizashi.,this sword ihas not been authenticated. the signature is there

I have owned this sword for over 50 years , the tip and blade are perfect, needs polishing, I believe the signature to be authentic as it matches the signature of an authenticated sword. I am asking $1200.00 for this art of Japanese sword smith Yoshimichi.

Help with Tanto

I would like some help with identifying the history of my Tanto and generally as much information as possible about it including translation of writing on both blades and wooden part of the handle, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Colonel Shigeyoshi Shibuya

Years ago I purchased a nice antique blade, mumei, osuriagi, with Gunto mounts from a guy that had a number of pieces. He also gave me a loose surrender tag at the same time, inscribed in Japanese & English, indicating a sword by Colonel Shigeyoshi Shibuya of Wakayama had been surrendered. He didn't remember if the tag went with my sword or one of the others he had. I wrote to the Colonel asking if he could describe his sword but the letter came back unopened.
