Hi I'm new to sword collecting,and don't know how to tell if something is real or not. This is my first sword I was told it is a wakizashi it's 45 cm total length.

Hi Andy,
I'm not 100% sure about this one in the context of being a 'real' Japanese sword. Mounts look like a complete fake, but the blade shows some signs of authenticity: the signature is not as typically broken as in Chinese fakes and the shape of the blade is not completely wrong. However, I'm afraid to disappoint you, either way it looks like a very poorly made sword.
